What is snagging?
Snagging is a detailed, independent inspection carried out before a property is officially accepted.
It is the final moment before handover when everything can still be corrected efficiently, cleanly and without disruption. The inspection focuses on workmanship, finishes, functionality, and overall execution - ensuring the property is completed as it should be.
The purpose of snagging is to ensure that the developer rectifies all defects before handover, including but not limited to:
· Clearly visible aesthetic defects
· Hidden technical issues
· Minor faults in details and finishes
· Plumbing systems
· Electrical systems
· Air conditioning
· Alignments of doors, windows, cabinetry, and fittings
If these issues are not identified in time, resolving them later can lead to unnecessary inconvenience, longer repair timelines, and significantly higher costs.
Why snagging inspection matters
Because discovering issues after you move in is when problems become costly. Not only financially, but also in terms of disruption and stress.
Whether it is an investment property or your own home, in both cases it is essential that after handover there are no defects that diminish its value, marketability, appearance, or quality of life.
Equally important, high-standard properties demand high-standard execution.
Small defects are often labelled "minor" or "cosmetic," yet these details define how a home feels and how it ages over time. Poor finishing, uneven surfaces, or careless detailing quietly reduce both comfort and long-term value, which is unacceptable at any level.
A few numbers for perspective
These numbers aren’t unusual. They simply reflect how much detail goes into modern properties.
